Update on the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19)

The Marin Swim League (MSL) Board has released a statement as shown below (as of March 28, 2021):

The 2021 Season: The MSL will be holding an unofficial season from April 5th through July 31st, 2021. Due to the rapidly evolving and changing nature of holding sporting events during the pandemic, the season will look very different from regular years.

This year, the MSL will not host dual meets. Instead, teams will host intra-squad events. Times will be posted monthly to the league leaderboard. Because pool time is limited and restrictions change regularly, each team will manage their own programs. Below are some of the parameters for this season.

  1. The League will not host All Stars or Championships but will recognize All Star times.
  2. AGE UP RULE: For the 2021 season only, youth will swim at the age that they were on April 5th , 2021.
  3. Swimmers will be allowed to practice with more than one team (USA and MSL or high school and MSL). However, youth that practice with more than one team will be listed on a different leaderboard than youth who only swim with the MSL.
  4. Teams must have a minimum of 1 official (referee or stroke & turn judge), 1 timer per lane and a head timer in order for the times to count.

The Covid-19 situation continues to evolve and change. Therefore, the MSL Board reserves the
right to make adjustments throughout the season if necessary.

The Marin Swim League (MSL) Board has released a statement as shown below (as of January 20, 2021):

The Marin Swim League is dedicated to getting as many swimmers in the water as possible during the spring and summer of 2021. Based on the current shelter in place orders and pool availability the league has agreed to move the start of swimming to April. At this time we know that we are likely to be hosting virtual events rather than in-person dual meets. We continue to monitor the evolving situation and will be putting out a more complete plan in February.

The Marin Swim League (MSL) Board has released a statement as shown below (as of April 14, 2020).

Dear Marin Swim League Members,

The Marin Swim League’s priority is and has been the safety and wellbeing of our membership and communityBoard members, coaches and team presidents have been meeting regularly during the past month to monitor and adjust to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We now know that many league teams will not have access to pools until at least mid-June and possibly not until later. Between current health guidelines from the State of California and the Marin County Public Health Department and a lack of availability of facilities it has become too difficult to plan and schedule for a season that would ensure the safety and well-being of our members and their families.

Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that the Marin Swim League has cancelled the remainder of the 2020 swim season and all associated activities, effective April 11, 2020.  We look forward to resuming league activities with the commencement of the 2021 Marin Swim League Season in February of 2021.

The MSL is an umbrella organization comprised of all the League teams, should you have questions specific to your team please contact them directly.

Sincerely,

The Marin Swim League Board
