Marin Swim League Report – Season Opener Saturday May 8th, 2010
This Saturday was the season opener for the Marin Swim League 2010 Season and the teams are off to a great start with lots of team spirit and excellent sportsmanship. It is a pleasure to be part of such a fantastic organization run mostly by parent volunteers. Across the County there were pool and team records broken, making for a very exciting start to the season. Results for the meets are below.

Another great meet between the Scott Valley Sea Serpents and the Lucas Valley Lightning. It was a beautiful day at the pool and many fast times.
Records
- Halle Morris of Lucas Valley broke both the pool and team record in the 11-12 girls 50 yard breast with a time of 34.24. The previous records of 34.40 were held by Vicki Moir from 1976.
- Scott Valley mixed 11-12, 200 yard free relay team broke the Lucas Valley pool record previously held by Tiburon Peninsula Club with a time of 1:51.88. The previous record was 1:52.12.

Records fell at the ORCA pool at the Marin Swim League Opener! Madeleine Salesky of the Orcas completed a successful day by breaking 2 team records and one pool record. She shattered the 18 year old team record in the 11-12 Girls 50 backstroke with a time of 30.15. This was also good enough to break the pool record of 30.85, which was set by Sabrina Cochrane in 2004. She then went on to break the team record in the 100 IM with a time of 1:07.29.
R.J. Williams (Boys 13-14) of the Waterdevils broke his older brother Trent’s (Boys 13-14) 50 yard butterfly record in the ORCA pool. R.J.’s record of time of 26.38 bested Trent’s time of 26.47 in 2006.

The Novato Riptide Swim Team enjoyed a beautiful day for the start of the Marin Swim League Summer Season! James Leng (11-12 Boys) from Riptide broke his own team record set last week for the 50 Free. The new record is :26.05. Overall 159 Riptide races showcased new “best times” since Time Trials just the week before.

A very exciting first meet of the season with more than 300 swimmers at the Rolling Hills Club in Novato. The score was close the entire meet and in the final races the Stingrays scored in many of the relays to take a much bigger lead and win the meet. Griffin Burke Tidalwaves 50Y backstroke 30. 69 2010 broke his own team record of 31.38 from 2009
