Last Saturday, May 15th was another exciting day of meets for the entire Marin Swim League, across the county young swimmers were breaking records and besting personal times. As a family outing the swim meets are wonderful and a terrific chance for catch up with both spouses and friends after a busy week. The meets will continue to get more a more competitive as the season progresses, these meets offer a wonderful opportunity to get involved with the local team spirit and watch some excellent competition at no cost. Who knows the eight year old who just broke a pool record may become the Michael Phelps of the future. It is a pleasure to watch them swim, compete and enjoy themselves so much. This week there were numerous records broken.

It was another beautiful day at the Sleepy Hollow pool as the Sleepy Hollow Sea Lions squared off against the Larkspur Tidalwaves in a spirited dual meet that produced over 500 personal best times amongst the 300 plus swimmers. Amongst the many great individual and team performances, coaches Mark Anderson and Sean Hennessy highlighted Augusta Lewis’ performance in the girls 9-10 individual medley race and Peter Jake Daniels’ impressive all around effort in the boys 11-12 races. Augusta knocked nearly 4 seconds off of her personal best individual medley time to win the race in a fast 1:23.84. Peter Jake had big personal best times in each of the 50 free, 50 back and 50 breast races, hitting the league all star meet qualifying standard in both the back and breast, and the Tidalwaves racked up 18 times that landed their swimmers in the top 5 county-wide Congratulations to both teams and to all the swimmers for their great effort and results.

Halle Morris of Lucas Valley broke both the pool and team record in the 11-12 girls 50 yard breast with a time of 33.87. The previous record of 34.24 was just made by Halle last week during the meet with Scott Valley Another great meet between the Novato Riptides and the Lucas Valley Lightning. A cold morning quickly turned warm as the races began. Lots of best times!

There were no pool records broken but lots of great swimming at the Rolling Hills Club pool in Novato today. Even with the majority of 15-18 year old swimmers missing this meet due to their participation at the high school level MCALS – there was still plenty of excitement during the relays and other close races. Many Best times and All Star qualifying times were made today. The Scotts Valley 11-12 medley relay team of Brandon West, Ariel Cacic, Sasha Petrova and Peter Lewczyk broke their own team record with a 2:05.38. Sasha Petrova set two team records in 11-12 50 Back 30.49 and 50 Fly in 29.74 Our 11-12 Free Relay: Anna Holtzapple, Brandon West, Peter Lewczyk and Sasha Petrova broke a Terra Linda Pool Record w/ a 1:51.10
